Star Wars: The Last Jedi Novel Reveals How Rey Actually Considered Killing Kylo Ren

Star Wars fans might have felt chemistry between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but it looks like the Jakku orphan actually thought of killing Kylo Ren at one point in the film.

According to the novelization of The Last Jedi (via Screen Rant), Rey actually considered murdering Kylo Ren when he was unconscious on the floor after their fight in the throne room of Supreme Leader Snoke.

The book includes an additional scene in The Last Jedi, showing what happened right after Rey escapes the broken Supremacy. Waiting for Chewbacca and the Falcon, the young Force user thinks back to the moment where she almost decided to take Kylo Ren's life.

"Rey had learned that the Force was not her instrument – that, in fact, it was the other way around. Just as Kylo was its instrument, despite his determination to bend it to his will. He would learn that one day, she sensed – the Force wasn't finished with him. And that meant Kylo's life was not hers to take, whatever future she saw ahead of him. Rey would wait, however difficult that would be to do as First Order warships descended on Crait. She would wait, and the future would unfold as the Force willed."

Rey certainly had a lot of wisdom to keep from killing Kylo Ren, avoiding the same mistake that Luke made years ago when by instinct he raised his lightsaber on his sleeping nephew.

Now the only question that remains is whether Kylo Ren can still be redeemed in Episode IX.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is available on Digital HD and will be made available on Blu-Ray and DVD on March 27.
