Star Wars: The Last Jedi Gets 4 Oscar Nominations

The nominees for the 2018 Academy Awards have been announced, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi has bagged four Oscar nominations,

The eighth episode of the saga and sequel to The Force Awakens received attention in technical categories, including one for legendary composer John Williams in Best Original Score. This marks his 51st nomination, but out of those, he's only won five of them, so if he wins it this year, it would be his sixth.

The shortlists for Sound Editing and Sound Mixing are similar, and The Last Jedi is pitted against Baby Driver, Blade Runner 2049, Dunkirk, and The Shape of Water.

In Visual Effects, the film is facing Blade Runner 2049, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Kong: Skull Island and War for the Planet of the Apes.

The film with the most nominations is The Shape of Water, which got 13!

Despite the praises of critics and its successful box office numbers, the film has been the most divisive among fans.
