Over the years, Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has been sharing behind-the-scenes photos he has taken from the set while the movie was in production. Earlier this week, he shared some images again with Carrie Fisher, Oscar Isaac, and Andy Serkis. Fans have always appreciated and loved his photos and his recent post got fans asking whether or not he has plans to release them officially.

A fan asked the director on Twitter if a Kickstarter could be launched to release a The Last Jedi BTS photo book. "That's lovely of you but there's no need," Johnson wrote. "It'll happen through official ways at some point I promise!"

It isn't clear if Johnson means he knows that there are actual plans to get the photos officially released or if he is only assuming that they will. That said, it's a very exciting tease and it'll be interesting to see what other quirky and adorable photos he has of the cast, especially with the late Carrie Fisher.

It isn't a surprise to see fans wanting to take the initiative to release Johnson's BTS images. After all, it shows a completely new side of the movie and the actors and shows candid moments in between takes amongst the cast and crew that the official set photographers weren't able to capture.

As for his upcoming Star Wars film, there's no news about it as of late but Johnson revealed earlier this year that he is still in talks with Lucasfilm but "they haven't announced anything on their slate yet."
