Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 Almost had a Completely Different Ending

There is little doubt that fans are very satisfied with the way that Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 concluded. However, it looks like Dave Filoni originally had a different ending in mind.

Filoni recently spoke to Nerdist where he confirmed that he had several ideas about incorporating the Morai into the final scene. Although the finale ended with the bird simply soaring above Darth Vader as he came across Ahsoka Tano's lightsaber, Filoni admitted he "had that bird perched on the Y-wing fighter" although "it wasn't playing right."

"I changed the ending as it went because I think a really important thing for me about the ending of the series was this is not about Anakin," Filoni said. "It has something tangential to do with him, but it's not about him. It really has to be about Ahsoka and Rex and their point of view."

He continued by stating that "Anakin's story is told", thanks to what George Lucas did with Revenge of the Sith. With that in mind, Filoni was free to tell the story from Ahsoka's point of view.

"I don't have to worry about that, but I can tell the story that needs to be told related to her. And so I had to be careful when it got to the ending that, you know, it's not this distraught thing about her and is she thinking about Anakin and what happened to him," he said.

We're glad that Filoni chose to end The Clone Wars the way that it did. Although Vader was the one who appeared at the final moment, it only proved that the animated series was Ahsoka and Rex's story all along.
