Star Wars Story Group Member Gives New Insight on Controversial 'Last Jedi' Scene

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will forever go down as one of, if not the most divisive films in the franchise. Many fans are still split on the movie, with some saying it's a masterpiece and the best Star Wars movie, while others are saying it's an insult to the franchise and their minds. A lot of scenes from this film are deemed controversial but the one that gets the most flack has to be when Luke Skywalker considers killing Kylo-Ren.

Fans have been debating that scene ever since and still do on certain occasions, proving that its legacy will live on, for better or worse. However, Star Wars Story Group Member Pablo Hidalgo recently chimed in on some of these conversations and gave some interesting insight to this controversial scene, stirring some more up in the process.

In a statement that will tick some fans off, Hidalgo claims that Luke never intended to kill his nephew. Hoo boy.

When fans tried to bring up how Luke literally turned his lightsaber on, Hidalgo was quick to point out that Ren and the audience see that in a much more extreme way than Luke did. It's an interesting statement, to say the least.

No matter what, it seems like fans will always be divided when it comes to Star Wars: The Last Jedi. At the least, we can all agree that The Knights of Ren appearing in Episode IX is getting all of us excited.

Star Wars: Episode IX comes out on December 20.
