There is little doubt that people are still expecting a sequel to Solo: A Star Wars Story although there haven't been any updates on a follow-up to the standalone film. All this time, co-screenwriter Jon Kasdan has been expressing his desire to work on a second movie. However, the Willow showrunner recently admitted that he is "very conflicted" by the idea as well.
Jon Kasdan is currently promoting Willow but he also discussed the possible Solo 2 with ComicbookMovie. Interestingly, Kasdan confessed he was uncertain about the whole idea.
"Yes, you know, I've been very conflicted about it over the past couple of years," he said. "I feel that too. I'm certainly one of those people, and when that time of year rolls around, immediately, my imagination goes to all the things we intended to do."
Kasdan then pointed out that the recent Star Wars projects have reignited his hope for Solo 2.
"On the other side, I'm so overwhelmed by how much great Star Wars content is coming into the world at this moment. I'm excited for the movie that Damon Lindelof is going to make. I'm excited for another season of Andor, possibly the best Star Wars show in history," he said.
"Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are just knocking out great, fun pieces of candy every six months that we get to enjoy. You know, I think if there's a reason for a Solo 2 is if there's a great reason. Certainly, I'd be game if there were," Kasdan continued.
For now, Disney and Lucasfilm have not yet announced whether a second Solo film is in the future. However, fans are hoping that the studios will eventually make an official announcement. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
Solo: A Star Wars Story was directed by Ron Howard and starred Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo. The movie also featured Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandiwe Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Joonas Suotamo and Paul Bettany.
