Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Characters Will Return According to Lucasfilm Head Kathleen Kennedy

The Star Wars sequel trilogy ended two years ago with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker which was the conclusion of the new saga in the galaxy far, far away. The franchise continues on television by revisiting the previous eras. But some fans are wondering: Will we ever see the sequel trilogy characters again? As it turns out, that might happen soon.

In an interview with Empire, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy revealed that there are plans to revisit the sequel trilogy characters in the franchise soon. She said, "Certainly, those are not characters we’re going to forget. They will live on, and those are conversations that are going on with the creative team as well." However, she didn't specify if it's for theatrical film or a Disney+ series.

The sequel trilogy has been divisive amongst fans and The Rise of Skywalker wasn't received well by critics and the audience so it is interesting that they are going to revisit the characters in that era. If they are pushing those plans, it is likely that they will do it through a TV series where there is less risk and more opportunity for them to flesh out the story that they want to tell.

Lucasfilm is developing a lot of Star Wars TV series at the moment. There is The Book of Boba Fett which is set to be released next month. There's also Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor, which both have already finished filming and are set to air next year. They are also working on Ahsoka, The Acolyte, and Lando which are still in stages of either pre-production or early development.
