Star Wars Reviewer Explains Why This Scene From The Last Jedi Broke The OT’s Lore

A year may have nearly passed since Star Wars: The Last Jedi's release in cinemas, however, angry fanboys still can't seem to get over the backlash against Rian John's Star Wars movie. While the film turned out to be both a financial and critical success for Lucasfilm, a very vocal group of fans were disappointed by the film's decision to subvert fan expectations.

Not only were fans upset by Snoke's sudden death, but they were also disappointed by how the film turned Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) into a jaded hermit sitting alone in Ahch-To. Revisiting The Last Jedi, YouTube commentator Thor Skywalker ( via Express) decides to discuss his bone with the film – the seemingly epic scene where Vice-Admiral Holdo sacrifices herself by driving the Raddus into the Supremacy at hyperspeed.

While the sequence definitely made a thrilling and cinematic spectacle, Thor Skywalker believes that the scene destroyed the lore of almost every major battle in the original trilogy and in Rogue One. According to the YouTube reviewer, The Last Jedi went a tad bit too far with the scene, going against the rules that built the entire franchise.

"Why doesn't Holdo just put some droids on some transport ships and have them jumping into hyperspace at the First Order fleet? She apparently knew such an action would work so it doesn't make sense why she waited so long to employ it," the commentator explained.

According to Thor Skywalker, the Holdo Manoeuvre would then make Rogue One and A New Hope both useless.

Why would the Rebellion need the Death Star plans and why would Luke need to shoot through a tiny hole in the space weapon if all the group needed to do was let a ship jump into hyperspeed straight into the Death Star?

While some might reason that the Death Star is an entirely different facility compared to the Supremacy, others might still believe Holdo's sacrifice as a ridiculous maneuver that hurt the franchise.
