Star Wars Reveals Who Ultimately Saves Kylo Ren In Episode IX

Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) might have chosen to continue his path down the Dark Side in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but fans are still hoping that the wayward son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia (Carrie Fisher) might find redemption in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

While we can't be quite sure how Kylo Ren finds redemption in the film, a new Star Wars novel reveals who might help lead the new Supreme Leader of the First Order back to the light. Lucasfilm is releasing Star Wars: Resistance Reborn this November, and the book directly follows the events of The Last Jedi.

According to Express, an extract from the novel features a scene between Leia and Rey (Daisy Ridley) talking about what happened to Kylo Ren and why he decided to turn his back on his family. The Jakku orphan struggles to understand how Kylo fell from the Light, however, Leia is of little help, admitting that she doesn't really understand how her son turned to the Dark Side either.

"I thought I could help him, but he only wanted me to become like him," Rey tells Leia after explaining what happens in Snoke's throne room on the Supremacy.

Leia then reveals how her son can find redemption.

"Ben has made his choices... No one can save Ben but himself. And I don't know if that is what he wants," Leia says.

It's all up to Kylo after all. Luke, Leia, and Rey won't be able to convince Ben to return to the Light. He'll have to make the decision on his own. It definitely won't be an easy one though and we wonder what events might help push Ben back to the Light Side.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
