Lucasfilm recently dropped the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer. Fans have a lot to take in and every piece of the trailer is being deciphered by many, looking out for some easter eggs or clues that could potentially contribute to plot details. One epic scene in the trailer was when Kylo Ren and Rey seemingly destroyed an unknown dark figure. And while a lot of fans got curious about the statue, Star Wars just revealed exactly what it was.

The trailer initially showed Rey and Kylo Ren fighting in the Emperor's throne room, then the scene cuts to both of them destroying the statue. The Star Wars Show revealed that the mysterious figure was actually Kylo's Darth Vader shrine.

There's no telling if they were actually teaming up to destroy it. While it is possible, it could also likely be Rey's decision and Kylo was only trying to stop her. Some fans speculate that when the shrine was destroyed, Kylo used the force to reach out and grab Vader's helmet to prevent it from falling to the ground. While others think that he just raised his hand to remove his own mask after smashing the said statue.

It certainly is an intriguing scene and we could only hope that it could make the final cut. This could just be a scene included in the trailer to throw off the fans into thinking that both of the characters teamed-up. On the other hand, it could be a pivotal scene in the movie, if possible, it could hint to Kylo Ren leaving the dark side of the force.

Regardless, we could only wait for these questions to be answered when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres on December 20, 2019.
