We already know that Star Wars Resistance is getting a second season. But before that, the back half of the first season will be getting plenty of action. The trailer for the mid-season premiere has just been revealed and it teases at a major Star Wars: The Force Awakens crossover.
The trailer opens with several TIE fighters arriving at the Colossus. However, Neeku reveals that they aren't the first ones to arrive at the aircraft refueling station. It is later confirmed that the Stormtroopers are there for a reason: They are supposed to protect the station. Unfortunately, this means that Team Aces will remain grounded for some time.
However, that doesn't exactly last too long. We later see Kaz and Torra watching General Hux's speech from The Force Awakens right before Starkiller Base blows the New Republic out of space. This might explain why the team found evidence of a star system but no stars.
There is little doubt that Star Wars Resistance Season 1B will be covering events that took place during The Force Awakens. At one point, General Leia Organa even implores with Kaz to join the Resistance. Could this mean that the second season will focus more on the team really getting into the action and fighting the First Order? We'll find out soon enough.
The second season of Star Wars Resistance is expected to air on Disney XD by fall this year. In the meantime, the back half of Season 1 will premiere on January 13.
