Star Wars Resistance Possibly Getting Companion Comic Book

Star Wars Resistance is the next animated chapter based on the popular franchise, taking place after Return of the Jedi but before The Force Awakens. It has a cast of new characters and a new cel-shaded art style that has gotten a mixed reaction from fans, but they probably won't complain if the writing is any good.

With a new series coming, it's interesting to note that a companion comic book might be on the way as well. During Noris Force Con, IDW Star Wars artist Ingo Romling revealed that he is working on a new comic book series featuring the characters from Resistance. Apparently, this will be different from the all-ages Star Wars Adventures line.

Romling wasn't able to reveal more details about the upcoming series, with no release date or title given for it. Still, a new Star Wars comic book could be cause for celebration since it might add some much-needed characterization to those that get ignored on the main show. We'll have to wait and see on the show's quality, as well as the comic's, but it's something to anticipate at least.

The recent Star Wars comics have been a treat to read, whether they're the ones from Marvel or IDW. Marvel has done an admirable job telling the stories that happened between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, while the IDW comics have focused on smaller character-driven tales.

Also, having stories in between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens opens up a lot of storytelling possibilities. We might be able to witness more of Snoke's reign with the First Order, which could give us a lot of fresh stories. Only time will tell if these stories are of quality, but we will have to wait and see.

Star Wars Resistance will be coming to Disney XD on October 2.
