Star Wars Resistance just had its finale last weekend, and it officially ends the story of the Sequel Trilogy era (for now). With the show ending, lead Kaz voice actor Christopher Sean posts his farewell to the show and the cast on Instagram.
Check it out:
Unlike The Clone Wars and Rebels, a lot of fans felt that Resistance didn't really have the same amount of time to grow for an audience. What a lot of people loved about the first two animated shows was that they started out for kids and ended with a more mature story that catered to older audience members. With Resistance, it kind of felt like the characters didn't get as much development as the likes of Ezra or Ahsoka.
Personally, I was all up for the premise of Resistance. I always thought that the Sequel Trilogy needed some more expansion, and I loved that we got to focus on characters that weren't Force-sensitive. If there was any downside for me, I really was not a fan of the animation style they went with. It kind of looked too bright at times, and it didn't feel as gritty as the other Star Wars materials that were coming out.
For now, we don't have a "main" animated Star Wars show, but hopefully, that changes at some point. My hope is that Lucasfilm tries to explore 2D animation this time around. Maybe they can give something to The Last Airbender creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. I'd love to see what they can bring to Star Wars.
Star Wars Resistance comes to Disney+ this February.
