Star Wars Rebels Showrunner Dave Filoni Praises The Last Jedi Director Rian Johnson

Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson may continue to be the victim of online bullying from conservative and traditional Star Wars fans, however, the filmmaker has earned the respect of critics, fans, and directors alike.

Though rabid fanboys would like to call Johnson one of the worst directors in Star Wars cinematic history, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels creator Dave Filoni has nothing but love and praise for the filmmaker.

According to a new Twitter post by Discussing Film, Filoni just recently praised Johnson for all the support that the filmmaker gave the long-time Star Wars animated series producer when he'd begun to work on live-action projects like Star Wars: The Mandalorian. Apparently, Johnson would bring him behind the camera and give him advice while filming his own film, The Last Jedi.

As controversial as The Last Jedi might be, it seems like Johnson has been nothing but a kind and generous man. Even when dealing with acerbic fans, the director tries to be as diplomatic as he can when navigating social media.

Interestingly enough, some of the most contentious filmmaking decisions in The Last Jedi were actually taken from George Lucas' ideas for the sequel trilogy. This includes Luke Skywalker's phase as a broken and jaded Jedi Master, hiding away on the planet of Ahch-To.

It breaks our hearts to see fans antagonizing Johnson for "questionable" storytelling arcs in The Last Jedi despite the fact that they've always been George Lucas' plan all along.
