Star Wars Rebels Season 3 Premiere Date Announced Along with Teaser

Disney XD has announced that Star Wars Rebels Season 3 will be premiering on September 24 of this year. The premiere will be a one hour special event and will take place at 8:30 PM Eastern Time. The announcement is coupled with a very short teaser, which can be seen below:

The summary accompanying the video reads:

"Having established a secret base on Atollon, the Ghost crew, now led by a more powerful Ezra, strengthens the rebel fleet by acquiring new resources and recruits eager to stand against the Empire. However, the Imperial efforts to eliminate the rebellion are now being led by the coldly analytical Grand Admiral Thrawn, whose strategic, tactical and cultural insights make him a threat unlike any they have faced before. In season three, Ezra and Sabine take on new roles and challenges as the rebels prepare for their biggest mission yet – a direct assault on the Empire."

It is also revealed that the premiere will be titled "Step into the Shadow". The premiere episode will introduce two new characters to the show: Bendu and Grand Admiral Thrawn. The staff behind Rebels has discussed how season 3 as a whole might tied into future Star Wars films, so it sounds like a season that should not be missed.

The teaser may be short, but it shows clips of several characters, including Thrawn and Darth Maul. It's also been stated that other characters might show up in the show, including some from Star Wars: A New Hope. If you want to catch up on Rebels before the big premiere, season 2 will be released on DVD on August 30th.

It sounds like this seaon will be an eventful one. Will you be watching the premiere? Are you excited?
