Grand Admiral Thrawn Returns in Star Wars Rebels Season 3 Trailer, Joins New Canon

At Star Wars Celebration Europe, Lucasfilm has released the first trailer for Star Wars Rebels Season 3 along with a new clip, and it reveals a lot of things that fans will talk about. During the presentation, Warwick Davis hosted a panel that included Executive Producer and Supervising Director Dave Filoni, Tiya Sircar (Sabine), and Sam Witwer (Darth Maul), and they enjoyed talking about what's coming in the new season of Star Wars Rebels

The show  takes place before Episode IV, and leads to the formation of the Rebel Alliance. Rebels follows the crew of Kanan, a ragtag band of rebels – Ezra (Taylor Gray), Hera (Vanessa Marshall), Kanan (Freddie Prinze, Jr.), Sabine (Sircar), Zeb (Steve Blum), and Chopper – who start a rebellion against the evil Galactic Empire.

Filoni talked about exploring more of Darth Maul's character, and the continuity throughout the universe, with adjustments made to Sabine and Zeb's looks to be more in line with Rogue One, and also revealed a new villain.

Watch the trailer and the new clip below:

Yes! Grand Admiral Thrawn, a character created by Timothy Zahn, and the central villain in the Heir to the Empire, which was the first book of a popular trilogy published in the 1990s. Thrawn, a Chiss, is a ruthless and highly-intelligent non-human Imperial officer, and it seems that this time, he's officially becoming a part of the new Star Wars canon. Thrawn is being voiced by Lars Mikkelsen (the bother of Mads Mikkelsen, who's playing Galen Erso in Rogue One.)

Star Wars Rebels will return in Disney XD this Fall.
