Star Wars Officially Reveals the Truth Behind Padme Amidala's Resurrection

Star Wars: Darth Vader #1 ended with one of the biggest cliffhangers in all of Star Wars, as it seemingly revealed that Padme Amidalla, Anakin Skywalker's wife, was still alive post-Empire Strikes Back. Well, the highly anticipated Star Wars: Darth Vader #2 has come out and revealed the big secret to Padme's supposed resurrection. Of course, this isn't actually a resurrection but a big swerve as the comic book reveals that this isn't Padme at all but her handmaiden and lookalike Sabe.

Vader and his droid Zed-6-7 confirm that this is one of Padme's handmaidens from Naboo, with the droid pointing out that she's actually a bit taller and has a more pronounced jaw. Her voice is also a wee bit deeper than Padme's but not by much, which is why she made for an excellent lookalike to the former queen.

This might disappoint some people hoping that Padme would still be alive but this was a logical thing to do. Bringing Padme back would rob everyone of her death's impact and many fans would have started wondering why she never actively looked for Luke or Leia. Thankfully, the reveal isn't too bad since Sabe is now teaming with Vader to avenge Padme's death, not knowing that the Sith Lord is Anakin Skywalker.

Fans will probably want to see more of this wacky storyline so if you're interested, go to your local comic book shop and hope that Star Wars: Darth Vader #2 is still there. The issue is also available in digital stores.
