Jar Jar Binks might be one of the most contentions characters in George Lucas' far, far away, but it looks like the chatty Gungang's finally gotten to wield his own lightsaber in Star Wars: Age of Republic Special #1.
Marvel's Star Wars: Age of Republic comic book series has been giving fans a look at different Star Wars characters like Qui-Gon Jin and Darth Maul. Now, after exploring the different Jedi adventures of Mace Windu, Asaji Ventress and Captain Rex, Jar Jar Binks finally has his own story in the Age of Republic, one that shows him wielding a lightsaber in battle.
Binks might hardly be seen as a creature of action, however, in a mission in Age of Republic, the character is the first to spring to life to help the Clone Army when called upon. At one point in the comic book issue, fans get to see Captain Rex being ambushed by a couple of droids that get cut in half the moment they get close to the Clone Army Commander. Rex calls out General Laan Tik's name, only to be surprised to see Binks emerging from the shadows with a lightsaber in his hand.

It's hard to imagine Jar Jar successfully holding a lightsaber and using it to protect the people around him. However, in later panels, readers find out that this actually isn't Bink's own lightsaber but Anakin's. Seeing the Jedi dropping his weapon, the Gungan decided to take it with him for safekeeping, and in true Jar Jar fashion, the character fumbled around the lightsaber in his mission with Rex and accidentally took out two droids.
Now that sounds like the Jar Jar Binks that we know.
