Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Reportedly In Development For Disney+

Most people have probably given up on the possibility of getting an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie. However, it looks like Disney has other plans for the Jedi Master. A new leak suggests that the House of Mouse is currently developing an Obi-Wan series for Disney+.

The leak comes from the Making Star Wars podcast Now, This Is Podcasting! (via Reddit). The podcast mentions a recent report by StarWarsNewsNet that Disney is planning an Obi-Wan Kenobi series instead of pursuing a standalone film.

"They back up StarWarsNewsNet's scoop that an Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+ is in development," the post reads.

This is certainly an exciting time for fans who have been waiting for Obi-Wan to get his own movie. After all, a series could mean that we'll get more time to understand the Jedi Master's story.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi film was expected to begin production shortly after the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story last year. However, the Solo backlash had reportedly prompted Disney to pull the plug on another standalone movie.

For now, there are no details about the planned Kenobi series. However, there are speculations that we'll get an update at the upcoming Star Wars Celebration in Chicago.

Perhaps the biggest question is, who will play Obi-Wan in the series? Ewan McGregor has already expressed interest in returning to the role so we're keeping our fingers crossed on the possibility that he will return as Kenobi soon.

The podcast also confirmed that the Cassian Andor series will begin shooting this fall. This could mean it could be completed soon after the expected premiere of The Mandalorian on Disney+ later this year.

Are you excited about the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+? Should the show bring back Ewan McGregor to reprise his iconic role? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
