Star Wars: Obi-Kenobi Releases Princess Leia Poster

Star Wars recently released a new poster for the Young Princess Leia, who is currently making an appearance in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Actress Vivien Lyra Blair is playing the ten-year-old version of Princess Leia, a girl who is still trying to find her place in the Organa family of Alderaan.

In the first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi that were released, a clever and rebellious Princess Leia was captured by a gang of thugs, and was hunted by the Inquisitors, setting the famed Jedi Master Obi-Wan on a direct collision course with Anakin Skywalker, now known as Darth Vader.

Including the ten-year-old version of Princess Leia in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series has been a divisive choice. There should be no criticism of the actress Vivien Lyra Blair, as she is doing a commendable job of playing a very iconic character. A lot of fans are more concerned about the potential continuity errors (or potential weirdness) of retconning the adventures of Obi-Wan and Leia starting decades before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope.

It is not a bad change, it’s just that it seems like an unnecessary door to open, one that might lead to future complications, as well as a lot more debate about whether these new Star Wars stories are expanding the impact and lore of Star Wars: A New Hope, or lessening it.

With that all said, a lot of the fans came to the Obi-Wan Kenobi series looking for a Logan-style story of the Jedi master having to keep the faith in those dark times. They wanted to see Obi-Wan’s angst waiting for the young Luke Skywalker to grow up; his reflections on the fall of the Jedi Order and re-establishing contact with Qui-Gon Jinn to learn Force ghosting - and of course, the long-awaited rematch with Darth Vader.

The first two episodes of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi is currently available to stream on Disney+ with the next episodes releasing weekly.
