Star Wars: NSYNC Claims They Shot a Cameo in Attack of the Clones That Got Cut

The Star Wars prequel trilogy is known to have a divisive reputation amongst fans. While some have appreciated them for their nostalgia, a lot have agreed that the direction is not on par with the original trilogy.

It's also been known for years that there were several scenes and storylines from the trilogy that were cut by George Lucas and fans are still discussing up to this day whether they could have changed the trajectory of the films.

As it turns out, one of the deleted scenes that was cut was going to feature a surprising cameo appearance from one of the most popular boy bands.

NSYNC Almost Made a Cameo Appearance in Attack of the Clones

In their recent appearance on Hot Ones (via Gizmodo), NSYNC members Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and JC Chasez confirmed that they shot a cameo in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones.

"It’s very true. We were the three," Kirkpatrick said,

Justin Timberlake chimed in, "I think I remember us getting a call like ‘You’re never [gonna] believe what happened. We were Stormtroopers’—"

Chasez corrected his bandmate that they were going to play Jedis and they learned "a bit of sword choreography."

Fatone explained, "The dumbest thing though, as we were doing the scenes, you’re literally going phvrmm phrvmm like an idiot. Didn’t the Star Wars fans go crazy that’s why they edited it? Yeah, they did not like that idea."

Kirkpatrick expressed his wish that the clip is still around. Fatone affirmed that it still exists according to one of the producers that he had spoken to.

"They do [have it] because they filmed it. I have asked [producer] Rick McCallum, ‘Where’s the footage?’ Because I know he has it. So let’s get that footage, please, I want to see it," he said.

This is intriguing information about what could have been a scene-stealing or jarring moment in the film that fans of both the franchise and the boy band would have talked about if it ended up in the final cut.

It is understandable that their cameo might have been distracting for the audience which is why Lucas didn't include it, but we can't deny that a lot of people are now curious to see the clip.

Perhaps this could lead to a petition from some fans to have Lucasfilm release the clip somewhere whether it's in the social media platforms or on Disney+ so that we can finally find out what the members look like wielding their lightsabers.
