There have been hundreds of Star Wars novels that have been released which explore more stories from the galaxy far, far away that are not told in the feature films whether it's about Thrawn, the High Republic, or the events that happened before the sequel trilogy. There are some that are part of the official canon while some are part of the Expanded Universe. But either way, there's a lot of Star Wars content in literature. Now, it looks like we're finally getting our closer look at the love story of Han Solo and Princess Leia in an upcoming novel.
Just in time for Valentine's Day, StarWars.com announced a new upcoming novel titled Star Wars: The Princess and the Scoundrel from author Beth Ravis (who also wrote the Jyn Erso young adult novel Rebel Rising) that is set to be released this summer.
The upcoming novel, which is set after the events of Returns of the Jedi, "begins on the forest moon of Endor, where Han proposes in the elation of the rebel victory against the Empire. After a ceremony at the site of the victory celebration at the end of the film, the newlyweds depart for a honeymoon aboard the Halcyon starcruiser. In their most desperate hour, with the war still raging but the Empire nearing its last gasp, the couple must outwit the Imperial remnants clinging to power."
Based on the premise, it looks like the novel is going to be a romantic action story since they're going to explore the love story of the two characters as they're on their honeymoon while also dealing with the last remains of the Empire (that they know of). It sounds like it's going to be very different from the other Star Wars novels given the romantic elements that this one would have. If ever you want to know more about the love story of Han and Leia, the novel might be perfect for you.
The premise also mentioned that Han and Leia are boarding the Halcyon starcruiser. If that name rings a bell, that is because it is an actual hotel that is part of the new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience at Disney World Resort. It is hard to tell if the inclusion of the Halcyon in the upcoming novel is a cross-promotion for the real-life hotel, but it is still an intriguing choice nonetheless.
The franchise has never explored Han and Leia's marriage in this way before, especially after the events of Return of the Jedi, so the novel is going to be an interesting read and let's see what they have in store for the galaxy's most famous couple.
