Star Wars: Natasha Liu Bordizzo Promises Ahsoka Will Please Old and New Fans

There is little doubt that Ahsoka will serve as the sequel to Star Wars Rebels as the surviving Ghost crew continue their search for Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger. However, Natasha Liu Bordizzo says you don't have to watch the animated series all over again just to appreciate what will happen in the upcoming Disney+ series.

It has already been confirmed that Ahsoka will follow Ahsoka Tano as she tries to find Grand Admiral Thrawn and eventually find out what happened to her friend Ezra Bridger. So it only makes sense that she would reunite with the Ghost crew, most notably Sabine Wren, who will be played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo.

This means Ahsoka is the live-action sequel to Star Wars Rebels and it would make sense for fans to revisit the animated show before tuning in for the new series. However, Bordizzo points out that you will still enjoy the series if you haven't watched Rebels.

"Well there’s just so much history with these characters, so there’s just so much subtext, which is very unique to this show because there is an existing fanbase, and then there’s also a whole bunch of fans that are completely clueless right now that will become fans," Bordizzo told Collider during Star Wars Celebration 2023.

She continued, "So we had to cater to both, so the writing was very specific in doing so, and giving away enough that it’s an homage to what the fans already know, but not being so cryptic that new fans can’t understand it. So it was a very interesting balance to strike."

It's awesome to know that there is everything for everyone whether you were a die-hard Rebels fan or only learned about Ahsoka in The Mandalorian. With that in mind, Ahsoka is something to look forward to this year.

Ahsoka will premiere on Disney+ in August 2023.
