There is little doubt that Fennec Shand was one of the most memorable characters from the first season of The Mandalorian. So what are the chances that she will be back in Season 2 of the Star Wars series? Ming-Na Wen may have revealed her character's fate.
Wen recently spoke to Collider about the final season of Agents of SHIELD but also discussed her role in the Disney+ show. When asked if she was given Fennec's backstory during filming, Wen had an interesting response.
"Well, because she was only in the one episode, and she comes in towards the middle of the episode, it was important that I knew more about why she became an assassin and what kind of an assassin she was. Is she heartless? Is she a mercenary? Well, she's a bit of both," Wen said. She then added that she was grateful to the creator and executive producer of the Star Wars series.
"It was really great to talk with John Favreau and Dave Filoni, and get to the core of who she was. And so, even if you might not have seen it, and it wasn't shown or divulged, for me, as an actor, it was really important to know where she was coming from," Wen concluded.
Yes, you read that right. Fennec only appeared in one episode and it might stay that way. After all, the character was killed at the end of Chapter 5: The Gunslinger. Nevertheless, fans are hoping that the mysterious figure that approached her body might be able to help in resurrecting Fennec. For now, we'll have to wait until it's confirmed that Wen will reprise the role in the second season.
The Mandalorian Season 2 is expected to air on Disney+ in October.
