Star Wars May Need a Rey Disney+ Series

Star Wars fans are eager for new Star Wars stories now that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has come to an end. Not only did Episode IX close the curtain on Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy, but it also culminated the Skywalker saga, marking the end of an era for Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away.

While most fans are hoping to see different stories outside of the one that Lucasfilm's built around the Skywalker family, Forbes writer Paul Tassi says Star Wars needs a Disney+ series that explores Rey's (Daisy Ridley) adventures after The Rise of Skywalker.

Sure, Lucasfilm's Star Wars sequel trilogy might have been riddled with issues with the backlash against the critically-acclaimed Star Wars: The Last Jedi and the fan service-filled The Rise of Skywalker, but Tassi feels like Episode IX felt more like the start of a new chapter than an end. According to the Forbes writer, the sequel trilogy has been nothing but an origin story for the Jakku Orphan. By the end of the sequels, not only do we get to see Rey taking on a new lightsaber, we get to see her take on the Skywalker name, ready for her new journey as a Jedi.

Giving Rey another Star Wars movie might be too much, but Tassi thinks that it wouldn't hurt for Lucasfilm to explore Rey's adventures after the sequels by giving her a Disney+ series.

What do you think? Should Lucasfilm go on and give Rey her own series after The Rise of Skywalker? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker releases on Digital HD on March 17 and 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD on March 31.
