Star Wars: Mark Hamill Shares Heartwarming Details About Luke And Leia's Final Scene In The Last Jedi


Most of us probably teared up a bit when Luke Skywalker was finally reunited with Leia Organa in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. After all, we already know that this was one of the last scenes that the late Carrie Fisher filmed for the movie. Interestingly, Mark Hamill has just shared some new details about how the sequence was shot and it is truly heartwarming.

A Star Wars Twitter fan account recently shared the scene between Luke and Leia and tagged Hamill as well as The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson in the post. Not surprisingly, Hamill responded to the tweet and shared some amazing details about what happened behind the scenes. Take a look at his response below.

"An emotionally charged day on set filming this because, knowing he was about to sacrifice his life for the greater good, Luke was saying goodbye... forever. The kiss was unscripted & spontaneous in the moment, summarizing his/my feelings in a way words could never have conveyed," Hamill wrote.

It's certainly amazing to learn that so many things about a scene that resonated so well with fans. We're glad that Hamill and Fisher added the kiss even though it wasn't part of the script.

We already know that Luke and Leia will still be back in Star Wars: Episode IX. Fisher's scenes come from unused footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens while Hamill is expected to appear in flashback sequences or as a Force Ghost in the highly anticipated film.

Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled for release on December 20.
