Star Wars: Mark Hamill Says John Williams Deserves Credit For Franchise Success

Say what you will about Star Wars, there's no denying that it is quite the phenomenon. Sure, it may have too many tie-ins that fill up some of the series' plot holes, not to mention one of the most toxic fandoms around but there is no doubt that the franchise has made an impact on the realm of entertainment.

Most people credit George Lucas, who came up with a lot of the things that made the series' popular but Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, says there is someone else who deserves credit for it; John Williams.

On Twitter, Hamill claims that Williams deserves the most credit for the series' success after George Lucas, who should obviously get most of it. There's no denying that Williams' score remains an iconic part of not just the franchise but the history of film. If you see even one Star Wars movie, expect to start humming the opening theme and the imperial march once they happen.

Even some of the worst Star Wars films have great music. The Phantom Menace might be one of the worst entries in the franchise it the music used during the final duel is glorious.

Williams has hinted at retiring from the franchise after the ninth entry and who can blame him? He's been doing this for such a long time so no one can blame him for wanting to bow out of a series he made legendary. Whoever ends up taking his place has really big shoes to fill.

Star Wars: Episode IX comes out on December 20, 2019.
