Ahead of the release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, a cast photo from a Vanity Fair cover shoot was released which features the prequel trilogy and original trilogy actors. Some fans thought that all the actors in the image have already met, which is what a fan assumed about Mark Hamill meeting Natalie Portman.

"NOT-SO-FUN FACT: Due to scheduling difficulties, Annie Liebovitz shot me all alone on that set & photoshopped me into the group later," Hamill wrote. This answers the fans' question of Hamill not crossing paths with his onscreen mother yet, though he noted that it's in his to-do list. This confirms that the photo was, indeed, photoshopped somehow (aside from the CGI characters like Jar Jar Binks and General Grievous) and that some actors haven't met all those present in the photo.

Aside from Hamill, the cast photo includes Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Natalie Portman, Anthony Daniels, Samuel L. Jackson, Jimmy Smits, Christopher Lee, Liam Neeson, Pernilla August, Jake Lloyd, Ian McDiarmid, Billy Dee William, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, and Peter Mayhew. Of course, Star Wars characters Yoda, Darth Vader, R2D2, Jar Jar, and General Grievous were added in the photo as well.

Hamill has seemingly concluded his time as Luke Skywalker within the Star Wars franchise in The Rise of Skywalker, which is the final installment of the Skywalker Saga. He also shared a letter about his time in the franchise, which was included in the Skywalker Saga box set.

The next Star Wars feature has a release date of December 16, 2022. Followed by 2 more films in 2024 and 2026.
