Earlier this year, there was a lot of talk about the possibility of Star Wars legend Mark Hamill joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Hamill had dinner together with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn and his family, and the photos which made their way online sparked the speculation that the filmmaker might actually be thinking of bringing the Star Wars legend into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
While most of the rumors suggest that Hamill might be set to play Rocket Raccoon's (Bradley Cooper), Cosmic Book News seems to suggest an alternative route for the actor – Marvel's Annihilus.
According to the publication, some fans believe that Marvel may very well adapt the Annihilation comic book event on the big screen and while the studio probably won't do a straight adaptation of the comics, word has it Annihulus may be introduced in the MCU through Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Speculation suggests that Annihulus may very well become the big bad of Marvel's Cosmic Universe the same way Thanos became the big bad of the franchise during its first three Phases.
For the uninitiated, Marvel's Annihilation comics is a crossover storyline that highlights most of Marvel's outer space-related characters. In the crossover, the villain Annihilus, the ruler of the negative zone, tries to lead an invasion army right into the positive matter universe, wreaking havoc all over the cosmos.
Though the rumors have yet to be confirmed, Hamill would make the perfect voice actor for Annihulus - the Star Wars star is also a legendary voice actor who's taken on so many iconic roles over the years, including that of DC's Joker, Avatar: The Last Airbender's Ozai, and Chuck in the Child's Play remake.
Hamill would make a great fit if ever Annihilus were to be introduced into the MCU.
Marvel's next film, Spider-Man: Far From Home, comes swinging into cinemas July 2, 2019.
