Star Wars Legend Mark Hamill Rejects Elon Musk's Controversial Twitter Policy

In case you didn't know, Musk's first major order of business is to charge Twitter users with verified accounts a monthly fee of $8 to keep their respective badges. Previous reports claimed it could even go up to $20 a month but Musk himself has confirmed that it will only be $8. According to the Tesla owner (via CBS News), this new scheme will "give Twitter a revenue stream to reward content creators".

Unsurprisingly, celebrities are enraged over the new Twitter policy, including Star Wars legend Mark Hamill who took to the platform to express his dismay.
Retweeting a post from fellow actor Isiah Whitlock Jr.American who asked his followers to react to Musk's controversial Twitter charge with a GIF image, Hamill cleverly responded with a Luke Skywalker GIF from his iconic scene in Empire Strikes Back. Check it out here:

Despite the backlash his new Twitter policy has been generating, Elon remains undeterred. When you think about it though, it's still a matter of choice whether or not celebrities and content creators are willing to pay a monthly fee to keep their verified badges. Obviously, having that blue Twitter check gives a user quite the advantage, especially during a time when troll and bot accounts exist.

Meanwhile, the entire Star Wars Skywalker saga is available to stream exclusively on Disney+.
