It's the start of a new year and Star Wars legend Mark Hamill's decided to join the hubbub by sharing the Joker's New Year's Resolution in Batman: The Animated Series.
Taking to Twitter, Hamill shared a clip from the Batman: The Animated Series episode "Holiday Knights." The video has the Joker getting in between a New Year's Eve football game to announce his New Year's resolution: not to kill anyone in the year to come. Unfortunately, according to Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime, he has to get the murderous intent out of his system before midnight, so what can he really do but go on a killing spree.
"You gotta admire his commitment....," Hamill reflected. "2019 Resolutions: 1- Decide what you want. 2- Make plans to achieve your goal. 3- Announce it to the world. 4- Execute your course of action that, hopefully, excludes executing anyone."
Well, Hamill isn't wrong. The Joker's methodology sounds pretty soundproof from step one to four – though it does involve executing people at a whim. Fans could follow the exact same steps to help commit to their own goals for 2019, though we're sincerely hoping none of it involves killing anyone.
Hamill certainly has a soft spot for the Joker, a character that he's voiced throughout so many decades. The Star Wars legend hasn't been shy about using his Joker voice to make strong political points, reading President Donald Trump's tweets in the air of the Clown Prince of Crime and posting the audio files on Twitter in posts he calls "Trumpsters." We wonder what new Joker posts the Star Wars legend might make as we enter 2019.
Hamill is set to reprise his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode IX which premieres on December 20, 2019.
