Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Reportedly in Development at Aspyr Media

Gamers who have been hoping for a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic title are in for a special treat. A remake of the original game is reportedly being developed by Aspyr Media.

A post on a ResetEra forum had pointed out that Aspyr Media is working on a major project which is reportedly a $70 million title. The upcoming title is also "expected to become an important [one] for the entire group."

Interestingly, several fans were quick to suggest that it could be related to Star Wars' current project The High Republic. On the other hand, others insisted that it would be a remake of Knights of the Old Republic.

But how could it possibly be a KOTOR remake? One fan shared that Aspyr is currently hiring people who used to work for Bioware who originally developed the title. The statement would later be verified by insider Jason Scheirer in the same forum.

This isn't the first time that a Knights of the Old Republic remake has been suggested. It was previously reported that a completely new title could be in development and that the game will not be developed by EA. With that in mind, this new project from Aspyr might be one and the same.

We're loving the idea of getting a new KOTOR title. After all, it's been several years since a new game was released. With the Star Wars franchise moving forward with several new projects, it wouldn't be a surprise that LucasArts is also eager to revisit one of its most successful game series.

For now, Disney and LucasArts have not yet confirmed that a new Knights of the Old Republic title is in development. Stay tuned for more updates.
