It goes without saying that Disney is oftentimes criticized for the failure of the Star Wars sequel trilogy but it's also safe to say that the House of Mouse has redeemed itself thanks to the introduction of The Mandalorian to the franchise. The hit Disney+ series has only been around for less than three years but it has successfully enthralled audiences.

The show also made lead star Pedro Pascal an overnight sensation and Din Djarin quickly became one of the most recognizable faces in Star Wars lore. Admittedly, showrunner Jon Favreau's mind was blown at how popular the bounty hunter has become.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly on the Dagobah Dispatch Podcast, showrunner Jon Favreau says the way (no pun intended) Din Djarin quickly became an iconic Star Wars character in just a short span of time is quite astonishing.

Explaining how "rewarding" it must be for Pascal, Favreau says: "What’s it like to see Pedro Pascal grow and become such an iconic character? That blew my mind today when he came out. I mean, again, we haven’t been at [Celebration] like this in several years now and you see that the love of this character has grown on its own outside. We haven’t been at a Comic-Con or a Celebration, you know, and it was amazing and, I think, probably really rewarding for him to feel the acknowledgment."

Din Djarin is expected to face his toughest battle yet against Bo-Katan Kryze and the two former allies are set to clash for the right to rule the Mandalore throne in the upcoming third season.

The Mandalorian Season 3 is expected to hit Disney+ in February 2023. Meanwhile, the fourth season is reportedly already in production.
