Star Wars: Join the Campaign to #MakeSolo2Happen on May 23

Solo: A Star Wars Story underperformed so hard last year that it basically canceled Lucasfilm's slate of anthology films. With the movie hitting its one year anniversary later this month, The Resistance Broadcast is attempting to kickstart a campaign to get Lucasfilm's attention and show there is fan outcry for a Solo sequel to happen.

This is their post:

The #MakeSolo2Happen campaign has been going on for a while, and the farthest it ever got was having Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo tweet about it as well. While it looks like Disney has canceled any anthology movies, some are hoping that we just get a continuation in the form of a Disney+ series.

Though Solo did underperform, it's unlikely because it was a bad film. Most people who actually got to see Solo actually liked the movie and a lot of fans have been expressing their regret for boycotting it in retaliation to their hate for The Last Jedi.

As for the reason, it did fail, it was because Disney had opted to water down the marketing to focus on the release of Avengers: Endgame. By the time Solo came out, no one was even aware of what the film was unless they were following it closely online. Add to that everyone was still talking about TLJ. The thing with the December releases was that it gave a lot of time for fans to breath so they had would be missing Star Wars by the time they started marketing the next movie.
