There's been a lot of buzz about Netflix's new superhero movie, Project Power. Starring Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Dominique Fishback, Netflix's new release has a pretty interesting premise as it follows the story of a drug dealer, police officer, and former soldier who decide to work together to stop the distribution of a pill that gives users superpowers for about five minutes.
Though the film is a whole lot different from Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away, Jamie Fox says that it was Star Wars that inspired him to join Netflix's superhero thriller, Project Power.
Speaking in an interview with Cinema Blend (via The Sun), Fox got to talking about his newest film and interestingly enough the Django Unchained star compared his desire to work in the movie with Star Wars.
"We had to connect before anything crazy happens," the actor explained, "When I look at Star Wars, which to me is a case study of movies, the reason Star Wars is great is not because of the lightsabers but because of Luke Skywalker. It's [great] because of Hans Solo, this band of people, even if they were ordering food it would still be interesting."
We wonder whether Foxx would have any interest in appearing in a Star Wars film or perhaps in an upcoming Star Wars series. The future of the franchise is very much open now that Star Wars is moving away from the Skywalker saga. There are a lot of roles that Foxx could play in the galaxy far, far away.
Project Power is streaming on Netflix. The Skywalker saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
