Netflix's The Sandman series already has an amazing cast but it looks like the show just added a true screen legend. Star Wars icon Mark Hamill has just been confirmed to join the highly-anticipated new drama where he will play Merv Pumpkinhead!
Mark Hamill's casting was announced during the first day of Netflix Geeked Week. The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker actor will provide the voice of Dream's grumpy janitor who works within the Dreaming and specializes in complaining about how his job isn't important in the Dreamworld.
The casting is truly a welcome one considering that Mark Hamill is more than just an amazing physical actor. He is also known for his voice acting, having played the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, Hobgoblin in the Spider-Man animated show, Fire Lord Ozai in Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Skips in Regular Show. Needless to say, it's perfect casting and we can't wait to hear Hamill as Merv in The Sandman later this year.
The Sandman is one of the most highly anticipated projects in the past decades and people are undoubtedly excited that it is finally getting released this year. However, the show's release date has been kept a secret for longer than expected. Luckily, a new teaser has just confirmed that the series will arrive on Netflix in August.
The Sandman also stars Tom Sturridge, Vivienne Acheampong, Gwendoline Christie, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander Park, Donna Preston, Jenna Coleman, Niamh Walsh, Joely Richardson, David Thewlis, Kyo Ra, Stephen Fry, Razane Jammal, Sandra James Young, and Patton Oswalt.
