Star Wars Has Epic Response to Fan Saying Franchise is Getting Too Political

There is little doubt that the Star Wars fandom is a loyal one but there are times when fans take issue with every little thing that the franchise does in recent years. For instance, one netizen responded to a tweet about an upcoming comic book release, demanding that the franchise ceases making Star Wars political. Not surprisingly, the franchise's Twitter account had an epic clapback to the post.

The official Star Wars Twitter account recently invited its followers to celebrate Pride Month by reading the new comic book Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #24. It seemed like a wholesome tweet until someone replied, "Don't make Star Wars political." It didn't take long for the account to deliver an interesting clapback.

"1. Queer characters existing isn’t political," the tweet read. "2. Star WARS is literally in our name."

It's a fitting response and people may need to get used to the Star Wars Twitter account clapping back at similar tweets. The account had previously defended Kelly Marie Tran and Billie Lourd when a netizen disrespected the actors.

There have been a lot of negative reactions to the new Star Wars content and actors in the previous months. The most recent backlash involved Obi-Wan Kenobi star Moses Ingram who was subjected to racist and negative comments on social media. However, Disney and Lucasfilm were quick to defend the actor. Even Ingram's co-star Ewan McGregor stood by the actress.

In the meantime, there is a possibility we'll see more of Moses Ingram in the future. Although her character Reva was stabbed by Darth Vader in the penultimate episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi, it appeared that she survived the injury and could be back in the final episode.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #24 is now available digitally. Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 6 will premiere on Disney+ on June 22, 2022.
