Star Wars: Han Solo Spin-off Almost Cast This Pop Star

The coveted role of playing young Han Solo is finally in the hands of Alden Ehrenreich for the Star Wars spin-off movie. However, that wasn't always the case.

It appears that one star was considered to play the role, and One Direction fans may have flocked theaters if that were true. According to a report from The Sun (via Evening Standard), the former One Direction member was seen to have a big potential for portraying the role.

The thing that actually stopped the plan was his music career, which could play a role in hindering him from sticking with the project.

"There has been talk at Disney about having him come in again for other projects they are considering. The Obi-Wan standalone movie may not star Harry in the lead role, but could see him play a smaller part. Harry offers something different."

According to the report, this was evident in his role in Dunkirk, the movie from Christopher Nolan. Here, Styles is involved in the World War II epic alongside other big stars like Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and Kenneth Branagh. Whether or not Styles will dive into another acting gig or perhaps one that is in the Star Wars franchise, remains to be seen.

For now, we have Ehrenreich to look forward to as the young Han Solo, once the Star Wars spin-off next year.
