Disney and Lucasfilm's highly-anticipated "real" version of the lightsaber has finally been revealed to the general public in a promo for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser at Disney World Resort.
The promo features a woman dressed as Rey from the sequel trilogy with her back facing the viewer. The woman turns around, holding the Skywalker lightsaber before lighting it.
In the Disney Parks Blog, Disney stated that the lightsaber Rey is holding is made by Disney's Imagineering Research and Development. Guests who will get to experience the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be able to experience it within the action. The new attraction will open in 2022 when the amazing two-night adventure opens up.
Fans can watch the lightsaber activate right before the eyes of many fans. It will just be one of the many ways that they will be able to get into the adventure. The moment they arrive and depart, fans will take part in a Star Wars story where the decisions and actions will determine how their personal journey will unfold.
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be a two-night all-immersive experience wherein the guest will board the starcruiser-esque hotel. While in it, they can feel like they are part of the Star Wars universe. The hotel was supposed to open in 2021 but was delayed due to the pandemic.
For the "real" lightsabers, they are not functional as weapons similar to the ones in the films or shows. However, they are the most realistic replicas. The prototype first came out in April during the virtual event called A Special Loom Inside Disney Parks.
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be available at the Disney World Resort in 2022.
