Star Wars fans outrage over Kelly Marie Tran's reduced role in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker might have quelled ever since the film's gotten closer to the end of its theatrical release, however, it seems like this year's Oscars has gotten the fanbase all riled up again.
Tran was invited to present at the 92nd Academy Awards this year, and during the Awards night last weekend, fans got to see the Star Wars actress up on stage announcing the winners of the 2019 Oscars. As delighted as we are to see Tran on stage during the Oscars, fans couldn't help but notice that the actress seemed to have more screen time during the Academy Awards than she did when she was playing Rose Tico in The Rise of Skywalker.
Taking to Twitter, fans couldn't help but express their discontent, bashing Lucasfilm for reducing Tran's role in Episode IX.
Fans were expecting to see more of Rose Tico after seeing her work together with Finn (John Boyega) in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, however, the Resistance mechanic got a reduced role in The Rise of Skywalker. Sure, J.J.
Abrams might have turned the mechanic into one of the leaders of the Resistance, however, the director gave her fewer scenes and fewer lines in the movie. Not only that, but the filmmaker seemed to entirely disregard the relationship that Finn and Rose had in The Last Jedi.
All of these things seemed like an insult to Rose Tico and to Tran, especially after all the bullying that the actress went through after appearing in The Last Jedi.
What do you think of Tran having more time in the spotlight during the Oscars than in The Rise of Skywalker? Does it make you feel upset? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
