Star Wars Fans Discover Unused Script That May Reveal Rey’s True Lineage In Episode IX

Star Wars: The Last Jedi might have turned Rey (Daisy Ridley) into the daughter of drunken junkers, however, fans are still holding on to the hope that Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) had been lying, allowing the Jakku Orphan to have ties to legacy characters like Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor).

While Lucasfilm hasn't given away any details about Rey's origin, Star Wars fans on Reddit have been able to unearth a few stories from an aborted Star Wars series that may help explain the Jakku Orphan's true lineage. Taking to the Star Wars Speculation subreddit, these fans decided to call back to a SyFy article that wrote about Star Wars Underworld, a canceled Star Wars series that was supposed to feature the underbelly of Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away in a time set right between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

According to the post, George Lucas once envisioned a story were Emperor Palpatine was left heartbroken by a gangster woman. God of War creator Cory Balrog actually spent some time working for Lucas back then, and according to the videogame developer, the Emperor was actually a sympathetic character in the series.

"W]hen I was working at Lucas, I was allowed to go up to the ranch and read the scripts for the [canceled live-action Star Wars] TV show. It was the most mind-blowing thing I'd ever experienced. I cared about the Emperor. They made the Emperor a sympathetic figure who was wronged by this fucking heartless woman. She's this hardcore gangster, and she just totally destroyed him as a person. I almost cried while reading this. This is the Emperor, the lightning out of the fingers Emperor. That's something magical. The writers who worked on that, guys from The Shield and 24, these were excellent writers."

Now how does this tie to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker? Sharing links to this post about Star Wars Underworld, fans on Reddit are wondering whether this hardcore gangster could have left with Palpatine's child – Rey.

It might seem a bit farfetched considering that Underworld never made it see the light of day, but there have been a lot of rumors going around saying that Rey may actually have ties to Darth Sidious. Besides, this hardcore gangster could have faded into a junker, fitting Kylo Ren's big reveal in The Last Jedi.
