Now that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's theatrical release is coming to an end, fans have been wondering about the future of the Star Wars franchise. What does Lucasfilm have planned next now that The Rise of Skywalker has culminated the Skywalker saga?
According to a report by Showbiz CheatSheet, one of the rumors that's been running up and down the mill is the potential return of George Lucas, the original creator of the Star Wars franchise. While the rumors have been suspected to be nothing but hearsay, fans continue to discuss the return of George Lucas, taking to Reddit to engage in conversation with others about the report.
On Reddit, some fans welcome Lucas' potential return, saying that they would be thrilled to see the Star Wars creator back in the playing field.
"The things he, Filoni, and Favreau could achieve… It'd be f*cking AWESOME. Maybe he could even get the ST [sequel trilogy] to be stricken from canon!" one fan wrote in a post.
Other fans would be glad to see Lucas return – if he were to avoid directing and focus his efforts on the broad strokes of the franchise. These fans aren't too keen on having Lucas return to direct the new Star Wars films, not after what happened with the Star Wars prequel trilogy.
Meanwhile, other fans are a little bit hesitant to see Lucas return at all, saying that they would rather have the Star Wars creator act as a consultant in future Star Wars projects.
What do you think? Would you want to see George Lucas return to direct Star Wars films? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
