Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker serves as the final installment of the iconic Skywalker Saga. The movie had some full-circle moments that tied the trilogy together, including a scene where Rey hears the Past Jedi voices that helped her rise up and defeat Emperor Palpatine. While some fans may think that these recordings could have been pulled from the archives, it looks like the epic moment featured some new ones.

With the exception of the late Sir Alec Guinness, the actors who played their respective roles have contributed new recordings for the movie. "We got Ewan McGregor and Liam Neeson and Sam Jackson," sound editor Matthew Wood told The Hollywood Reporter. "It was wonderful to have all the actors come back and be able to revisit their characters."

Wood revealed that he had to "fly all around the world" to get the recordings from the actors. "Everyone just has such a great love for Star Wars, and it was so fun to see all the different eras of Star Wars represented in that moment," he added. "It ends with Luke Skywalker telling her to get up, and then she has both sabers in her hand from Luke and Leia."

Since Carrie Fisher passed away in 2016, Wood noted that they utilized her unused footage in a "respectful" manner. "We mined a whole bunch of samples and material that we had from her for Force Awakens and Last Jedi," he continued. "So we were able to put [her lines] together with a combination of technology and editorial care from our dialogue department." Wood thinks that it "honored" Fisher's character and that it also "worked on a technical level."

The pivotal scene was loved by fans, especially since it included the voices of their favorite characters. It was certainly a great way to conclude the saga.
