Star Wars Fans Are Sad That Ewan McGregor Didn't Say His Iconic Obi-Wan Line During D23

It's official; Ewan McGregor is coming back to Star Wars and will be reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a limited series that will be streaming on Disney+, which probably sold people on the platform. Heavily rumored beforehand and made official during D23, this is a story fans have been waiting for and we'll finally get to see it, even though no release date has been announced.

Was there anything disappointing about the announcement? Well, thanks to some funny fans, it has now come to our attention that Ewan messed up his own welcome by not saying one of his iconic likes: "Hello there."

You'd think that would be the way he was going to greet all the fans but it didn't happen. Even the Disney+ Twitter account used Obi-Wan's "Hello there" line to tell fans that McGregor is returning for the series. Obviously, this isn't a huge deal and fans are just pretending to be petty so that they can get a laugh, so let's be in on the joke.

Even as a casual Star Wars fan, I have to admit that a solo Obi-Wan Kenobi series has some potential. There's a big gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, so Obi-Wan's adventures must have been interesting. It will also be fun to see if he has any run-ins with The Empire or Darth Vader but that's just us spitballing.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is coming to theaters on December 20. The Mandalorian will premiere on the same date Disney+ launches, which is on November 12. No release date for the Obi-Wan Kenobi mini-series has been announced.
