Star Wars Fans Are Going Crazy Over The New Trailer For Episode IX

Lucasfilm dropped a brand new trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker earlier today, and fans have been going wild.

Taking to social media, Star Wars fans have been flooding Twitter with all sorts of reactions to the new video for Episode IX. Sure, the trailer might have more sequences from all the other films in the Skywalker saga, but we do get a good number of clips from The Rise of Skywalker. Not only do we get to see the Resistance fleet and the First Order's Star Destroyers gathering for their final battle, but we also get to see Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) come face to face in an epic lightsaber fight.

The trailer even teases Rey's turn to the Dark Side, featuring the Jakku Orphan in a dark hood wielding a weapon that flips to reveal a double-edged lightsaber reminiscent of what Darth Maul carried around in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

Check out some of fans tweets about the new trailer down here:

Of course, while we can't really be sure whether or not Rey really does turn to the Dark Side in Episode IX (we suspect that this happens in a Force vision), we are sure that fans are all geared up for the film to arrive in December. It's only right that they should be. Not only is The Rise of Skywalker the final entry in Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy, but it's also going to serve as the culmination of the entire Skywalker Saga.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
