The entire Star Wars fandom is going absolutely nuts over the latest casting news surrounding the upcoming Ahsoka series top-billed by Rosario Dawson. Since her arrival in The Mandalorian Season 2, Dawson's portrayal of the beloved Jedi instantly clicked with fans, and her revealing that she's after Grand Admiral Thrawn was just the icing on the cake.
For months now, fans have speculated as to which actor could end up being tapped by Lucasfilm for the part and while the actors who will play Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren in the show have already been confirmed, the production company has intriguingly kept mum regarding Thrawn.
A recent rumor claimed that Thrawn will be played by none other than Lars Mikkelsen himself, who voiced the character in the hit animated show Star Wars Rebels and it seems like it's only a matter of time before Lucasfilm makes it official.

For the amount of flak Lucasfilm has drawn over the last five years, it can't be denied that the production company's most recent casting choices have been on point and I guess we can all thank Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau for that.
Dream castings aside, it goes without saying that Mikkelsen is the only actor who has the right to play Thrawn in live-action.
Ahsoka is expected to hit Disney+ sometime in 2023.
