Ahsoka: Actor Who Plays Grand Admiral Thrawn Reportedly Revealed

Last month, Lucasfilm made it official that up-and-coming actor Eman Esfandi has been chosen to play Ezra Bridger in the highly anticipated Ahsoka series. In case you weren't aware, several reports say that the MandoVerse spinoff show will serve as an extension of Star Wars Rebels which ended in 2018 after a successful four-year run.

Of course, the animated show's main baddie Grand Admiral Thrawn is also expected to make his live-action debut in the series but intriguingly, the production company has been keeping fans in the dark with regard to the actor who will portray the part.

Names like Benedict Cumberbatch and most recently, Christian Bale were among the stars rumored for the role but there's no denying that Lars Mikkelsen, who voiced the menacing villain remains the top candidate amongst Star Wars diehards.

Well, it looks like Mikkelsen will in fact be reprising the role he made so iconic. According to the latest scoop from insider Christopher Marc, the 58-year-old actor has officially been tapped to play Thrawn in the MandoVerse. On top of that, he is also said to be sporting the character's traditional white uniform.

Mikkelsen has long been rumored for the role as well and frankly, there shouldn't be anyone else in consideration. Check out the scoop here:

Since Thrawn was first referenced in The Mandalorian Season 2, fans have been eager to see his live-action debut in the franchise. Intriguingly, Ahsoka has been targeting the cunning and ruthless villain despite the fact that they've never come face-to-face in the animated universe.

is expected to hit Disney+ sometime in 2023.
