It's been almost three years since Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released and the film's critics still can't set aside their hatred for the project helmed by Rian Johnson. In fact, one avid fan has voiced his opinion on social media and called out Johnson, even going as far as asking him to apologize for the massively divisive Episode VIII.
Twitter user Dave Handelman lashed out at Johnson and his "awful" Star Wars entry and the words he uttered were pretty harsh and intense. He wrote: "I'm still not over your awful SW entry that shat all over everything. I hope one day someone breaks something you cherish, Rian. And I hope, one day, you realize what you did, and you apologize EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. I hope you feel that amount of pain."
The nasty tweet got the attention of Yoda actor Frank Oz who slammed the fan for criticizing the film which came out three years ago. Oz even defended Johnson from all the hate his Episode VIII has generated. Here's what he had to say: "It's sad to me that you've harbored this internal darkness for so long about a movie. Rian is a great director, writer, & human being. Please try to understand that writers & directors are not there to fulfill the audience's expectations. Good work breaks expectations."
Even though The Last Jedi didn't exactly meet the standards of longtime fans of the Skywalker saga, it still had its fair share of admirers who thought the film was groundbreaking and a breath of fresh air. Now, whether it deserves all the hate it's gotten over the years or not is always up for debate it but we certainly cannot erase it from Star Wars history.
