Star Wars: Fan-Favorite Sequel Trilogy Actress Wants to Make Comeback

It goes without saying that the Star Wars sequel trilogy is the most polarizing among the Skywalker saga entries but giving credit where credit is due, Episodes VII, VIII, and IX introduced us to a bunch of new faces in the franchise who have won over even the most skeptical fans.

One of them is the fan-favorite Vice-Admiral Amilyn Holdo whose only appearance came in 2017's The Last Jedi, arguably the most divisive film in the sequels. Played by Laura Dern, the character died during the closing moments of The Last Jedi when she crashed the Resistance ship into all of the First Order ships at light speed.

Despite her apparent death, fans have been theorizing that Holdo may have survived the crash similar to the "Mace Windu is alive theories" but of course, it's just mere speculation at this point.

But if you'd ask the actress, she's definitely open to exploring Holdo's past and potentially her future in a spinoff project. Speaking with ComicBook, Dern said Holdo's return to the franchise is up to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. The Jurassic World Dominion star said: "I mean, we can ask Kathy Kennedy, same person who helped me create Dr. Ellie Sattler."

Dern added that she'd be down to working with co-star Bryce Dallas Howard should she direct another Star Wars project in the future. She said: "Exactly, I love it. That's amazing."

There's no doubt that Holdo's heroic death in Episode VIII is one of the highlights of the sequel trilogy but no offense to Dern, I don't think the fans are that invested in the character to even care for a solo project despite her popularity.

But then again, Lucasfilm is expanding their Star Wars content via Disney+ so there's always a chance. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The entire Skywalker saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
