Star Wars: Ewan McGregor Hasn’t Heard Whether Obi-Wan Episode Count Has Been Slashed

There has been quite a number of reports about Lucasfilm's Obi-Wan Kenobi live-action series today. Word broke out that the series would be going through an "indefinite delay" because Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy had issues with the project's script. There were also reports saying that the rewrites for the script would shorten the series episode count, slashing Obi-Wan from its original six episode length to four episodes.

However, it seems like these reports were wrong. The length of the series won't be affected by the rewrites.

Star Wars' prequel Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan McGregor just recently spoke with ComicBook.com during a press event for Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), and during the interview the actor was asked to comment on the possibility of a shorter episode count for the upcoming Disney+ series.

McGregor's response was simple.

"I haven't heard of that," the Scottish actor told the entertainment news outlet.

It's possible that online news sites may have been blowing things out of proportion, speculating that Obi-Wan would get a shorter episode count than what Lucasfilm originally arranged for the series. McGregor believes that the online news cycle has been sensationalizing the news, saying that the drama surrounding the series has been nothing but "bullsh*t."

The actor is right though. Delays in production happen all of the time. Everyone's just going wild over the news about Obi-Wan's delayed production because of the anxiety fans have had over the Star Wars franchise. Star Wars hasn't been doing that well as of late – Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been struggling to please critics and to achieve the numbers it was expected to achieve at the box office.
